Gym Ventures classes are designed to teach fundamental gymnastics on the Olympic apparatus: bars, beam, vault, floor and trampoline. We use many different skill-building pieces of equipment including but not limited to: wedge and panel mats, barrels, octagons and trapezoids. Our weekly themes and lesson plans are designed to teach new and challenging skills while reinforcing skills taught from previous classes.
| We hope to take our gymnasts on a great ride this year with our Team program and competitions to inspire confidence, athleticism and happiness. GV staff will help make Team the best gymnasts and people they can be! And since Gym Ventures is a family of responsible kids, parents and teachers, we are putting our full trust in you, the Team families, to take on the Team responsibilities.
Our Team Program is for gymnasts who want more from the sport of gymnastics: Competitive Gymnastics. We are going to work hard, both physically and mentally, to prepare for meets. It will be a lot of extra physical activity and they will learn new skill upon new skill. Those of you continuing, keep up the great work! If this is your first year on the Team, welcome; From now on you will be training with the best gymnasts GV has! |

In order to be in the best shape possible to be competition ready, we need our Team members to attend virtually every practice. Also, our Team members will be training more disciplined skills where injury can occur; you can help prevent injury by having your gymnast attend practice regularly. This will ensure proper knowledge and execution of skills to minimize mistakes that can cause harm. The Sr. and Jr. Team will be attending ballet class on Mondays and the Sr. Team will be attending the FITZ program with Debbie on Wednesdays. This has been worked into the already made schedule. For your information, a FITZ flier is included. The FITZ program for Sr. Team has been modified to meet the needs specifically for Team. This program is designed to help prevent injuries thru strength and conditioning.
That said all Team members may miss no more than two practices per session. These two missed practices may be made up in open gym. In the event more practices are missed, you must inform the gym and set up private lessons in order to make up the practices missed. Also, the week before a meet, no practices may be missed. That is prime preparation time for the meet. Again, in the event that a practice is missed in the week leading up to a meet, a private must be set up immediately before the actual meet. As incentive, a 10% discount will be given to any Sr. or Jr. Team member that attends 100% of practices in one session. This discount will be applied to the following session. The bottom line is in order to help prevent injuries and to get ahead in the competitive world of gymnastics, the children need to be in the gym. We can’t do it any other way.
Good standing in school work is necessary in order to participate in the GV Team program. At the end of every quarter or semester of school, a copy of the report card must be given to us. You need to have a “C” average or better to be eligible for Team.
- Please try to be on time to practice… If practice starts at 5:30, we would love to see your smiling faces at 5:15p. We understand the difficulties that sometimes arise when trying to get to the gym: transportation, other siblings, traffic, food consumption, etc. It is our responsibility to have our gymnasts healthy and smiling. Having them on time will help us do our jobs better. We just ask that you try your best to be at the gym on time. This will help prevent injuries and not disrupt the flow of practice.
- Demonstration Team…all of our Team gymnasts are required to join our Demonstration Team. Demo Team starts October 12th and will meet every other Friday thereafter. For pricing, refer to the list of fees. For all the dates, refer to the back of the Rec. class schedule.
- Attitude in practice… A smile goes a long way. A good attitude in practice is a must here at Gym Ventures. Especially now that you’re on the Team! We promise to treat the gymnasts with respect and expect the same from them toward the coaches. If there are any problems in practice that may cause sour attitude, it is important to talk to your coach immediately; your concern is our concern. And of course, please be great listeners in practice. Having a good time is what it’s all about. So remember to bring your smile to practice!
- Respect your gym…Gym Ventures is your second home now so help us keep tidy. We are not only providing you with a plethora of gymnastics knowledge, but a family environment. Please clean up after yourselves when leaving the bathrooms, lounge, gym, etc. If a coach asks for your help to clean up or put something away, please be obliged to do so. And if you see someone else disrespecting your gym, please stand up for us and tell an adult. Also, while you are not in practice, the gym is not a playground. You may not be on the floor unsupervised. Again, this goes along with safety rules; unsupervised practice may result in injury. We love your enthusiasm, but save it for practice!
- Have fun…being on the Team means you must LOVE gymnastics. We hope this always stays the same. If ever there is a feeling of boredom, stress or being overwhelmed, talk to your coach. We will figure out a solution and remember why gymnastics is so much fun. Gymnasts defy gravity, carry great confidence, are athletic and are extremely disciplined; remember all the great reasons to love the sport and your gym!
The Team trains year round, because gymnastics is a year round sport, not seasonal such as soccer or softball. The summer schedule takes into consideration family vacations, etc. The summer program is easy going but very purposeful. The more time you spend in the gym the better you get. Take advantage of our camps during summer and year round camps. There are also off season meets held; if you wish to train for these, you must be in the gym. More information will be available closer to those dates.
The Gym Ventures Team program intends to challenge talented and dedicated children with progressively more difficult and interesting skills in a safe and sure learning environment. It is our belief that high level gymnastics can have a positive effect on the lives of our very young people while maintaining an exciting and enjoyable setting in which to train and interact with others having the same frame of mind.
We will strive to offer advanced and progressive learning while avoiding the “extreme” side of the sport so often associated with winning as its only goal. Trying our hardest will be our main goal. We will enter and leave every meet with our heads held high and smiles on wide. |
